 About the Book

Boring. The entire concept of fiction is that a characters choices lead to consequences. It is how any novel is meant to move. Lively, however, decides to skip forward and try to do too much. Each generation gets replaced by the next in her narrative and as Ive thought about it, I feel that the authors approach comes off as naive and disrespectful of characters as they age. In an attempt to express some feminist ideals, she ignores the rich cause and effect relationship that I long for in following one character to the end of their own story. I could go on and on, but I dont think its worth it. Not a waste of time, entirely, but really not my style. Give me Anna Karenina, and then we can talk about CONSEQUENCES. Seriously.
